The Big LaunchJune 13, 2018 -

For years I have been told that parenting involves “launching” our children into new situations from early on – think 1st day of kindergarten to the “Big Launch”, also known as going off to college. The fact that I have had 18 years to prepare for this made me believe that I would be ready for this time in my life. I’m a mom, and my emotions took over, and I immediately felt like reversing this decision. He should stay home and not leave us to go off to college!!!
My son has learned a tremendous amount in his last 12+ years of school, but he still has so much to learn (how can he be ready to “launch” already?).
Emotions are very powerful and we sometimes let them take over, which can lead to irrational behavior and decision making. Often, as a financial advisor, I remind my clients we cannot let emotions get in the way of our long term plans. I reminded myself that my son going off to college and gaining his independence is a crucial and necessary part of becoming a self-sufficient adult.
At IAG we pride ourselves in getting to know our clients’ goals and their time horizons. Then, based on their situation we use our Portfolio Segmentation ™ tool to help them stay on a plan and keep their emotions regarding Mr. Market out of the way. Each of our advisors at IAG works with their clients to navigate through the many different phases of their lives. Our team will help you develop a long term plan and we will be here each step of the way to help with the important decisions that you will face throughout your lifetime.
